Shamal Holding, a worldwide investment corporation based in Dubai, announced that the technology had progressed beyond the testing stage. However, it did not reveal the amount of money it invested in the most recent round of funding.

The UAE plans are part of a larger effort by the business to develop its tunnel projects. The new funding provides further financial support as it pursues projects in other areas.

Boring Company UAE Investment Includes Major Backers

Several well-known investors participated in the $3 billion Series D investment round. Some of the investors include Human Capital, Vy Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Sequoia Capital, A16Z, Temasek, Shamal Holdings, and Baron Capital.

The round involved both existing and new backers. According to the firm, the new investment is separate from the already awarded Dubai Loop project.

The money comes after The Boring Company struggled to accomplish some of its grander objectives over the years. Elon Musk had previously advocated for rapid underground transportation as a means of transforming urban mobility.

In addition to Las Vegas, the business is now working on numerous other projects. It broke ground this year on a tunnel project in Nashville, Tennessee, and its Dubai project is also progressing.

The latest investment demonstrates investors’ persistent interest in Musk’s firms. His other firms, Tesla and SpaceX, have established significant commercial operations in their respective industries.

The financing could help the UAE speed its planned underground transportation infrastructure expansion. The business now aims to build over 150 kilometers of tunnels around the country.
