Trump: US Not Satisfied With Nuclear Negotiations With Iran

Washington: On Friday , US President Donald Trump said he is “not exactly happy” with Iran’s handling of nuclear discussions, emphasising that the country cannot possess nuclear weapons.

Trump stated

Trump told reporters before a trip to Texas, “We haven’t made a final decision (on Iran).” We’re not too pleased with the manner they’re negotiating. They cannot own nuclear weapons. And we’re not happy with how they’re negotiating. So we’ll see how everything works.”

“I’m dissatisfied with their refusal to provide us with what we need. I’m not happy about that. We’ll see what happens; we’ll have some more discussions today; but, no, I’m not satisfied with how things are going.”

Iran and the United States held their third session of negotiations in Geneva on Thursday, and another round of talks is scheduled for today.

Although the US president prefers not to employ military force against Iran, he acknowledges that it may be required in some scenarios. There’s always some risk… It would be ideal if they negotiated in good faith and conscience. “But they’re not getting there,” he continued.

Regarding the potential of a regime change in Iran following US military action, he stated, “Nobody knows.” There might be, or there might not be. It would be ideal if we could do it without, but sometimes you must. We have the greatest military in the world. I’d prefer not to utilise it.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said “good progress” was made after long and intensive talks in the third round of negotiations with the US in Geneva on issues concerning Tehran’s nuclear program and sanctions relief discussed amid escalating tensions between the two countries.

Furthermore, Trump stated that the Cuban government is in significant financial problems and is in talks with the United States.

“The Cuban government is communicating with us. They’re in serious difficulty. They have no money. They currently have nothing. But they’re talking to us… We might wind up having a friendly takeover of Cuba,” he remarked.
