Iran Envoy Criticizes Trump : Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, has sharply denounced US President Donald Trump, accusing him of undermining two key diplomatic successes between Iran and the US. Despite the criticism, the Iranian envoy stated that diplomacy is still the most efficient approach to address long-standing conflicts and promote regional stability.
Speaking at an event in Pakistan, Moghadam claimed that the Trump administration had undermined both the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal, and the recently signed 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was intended to ease tensions and create a framework for future negotiations.
According to Moghadam, these agreements were significant diplomatic achievements reached following years of rigorous discussions. He contended that replacing discussion with military force and political pressure has exacerbated instability and eroded confidence between Tehran and Washington.
His statements come as tensions in the Middle East remain high, with recent military exchanges between Iran and the United States causing anxiety among regional nations and the world community. Analysts fear that if diplomatic attempts fail, the situation might worsen.
Iran Envoy Criticizes Trump Over JCPOA and 14-Point MoU
Moghadam stated that the JCPOA, agreed in 2015 by Iran and many international countries, was intended to constrain Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. However, the United States withdrew from the accord during President Trump’s first term, reigniting tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.
The envoy also mentioned the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding reached in June 2026, calling it another significant diplomatic achievement. According to him, the accord aimed to reduce tensions, reopen the door to negotiations, and lay the groundwork for conversations on regional security, sanctions, commercial shipping, and Iran’s nuclear program.
Moghadam stated that both accords provided opportunity to reestablish trust between Washington and Tehran. He stated that recent US measures had hampered diplomatic efforts and generated uncertainty throughout the region. While condemning US tactics, he underscored Iran’s continued support for political discussion rather than lengthy military confrontation.
Iranian leaders have frequently stated that military activities alone cannot bring about long-term peace. They argue that negotiations based on mutual respect and international law are still necessary for resolving conflicts over security and nuclear issues.
Iran Envoy Criticizes Trump as Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The ambassador’s words come while the Middle East remains unstable. Recent military confrontations between Iran and the US have had an impact on regional security, commercial shipping, and global oil markets. International observers have cautioned that further escalation might have serious economic and humanitarian ramifications beyond the region.
Many governments have encouraged both countries to refrain from further military action and return to diplomatic talks. Analysts feel that rebuilding trust will be tough, but diplomacy remains the most viable approach to preventing a larger regional crisis.
Experts point out that accords like the JCPOA and the recently discussed MoU were designed to prevent misunderstandings and create avenues for constructive discussion. Although those diplomatic attempts face major hurdles, foreign mediators continue to urge both sides to begin negotiations before tensions rise further.
The US has maintained that its actions are aimed to preserve its national security interests, whilst Iran claims that fresh negotiations provide the best chance for long-term regional stability.
With diplomatic relations strained and military tensions high, the future of US-Iran relations will most likely be determined by both sides’ willingness to repair trust via conversation rather than conflict.
