Trump Gold Card Visa Sees First Approval as Hundreds Line Up

Trump Gold Card Visa plan : On Thursday, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick informed a congressional committee that President Donald Trump’s gold card visa for one individual had been authorized. The system allows foreigners to pay at least USD 1 million to live and work in the United States. According to Lutnick, hundreds of applications are waiting to be processed.

The gold card idea was introduced in December as a new option for wealthy migrants. It is designed to replace the EB-5 program, which has been around for decades. EB-5 awarded US visas to individuals who invested approximately USD 1 million in a company with at least ten employees.

A new US immigration plan supported by Donald Trump is generating news globally. The so-called “Gold Card” visa was presented with big promises, but early results have raised severe concerns.

Trump gold card visa approval: one success but hundreds still waiting

So far, the US government has granted only one application under the Gold Card immigration programme. At the same time, officials verified that hundreds of applicants remain in the queue, waiting for permission.

The plan permits affluent foreigners to get US residence by paying at least $1 million, plus additional administrative fees. It is intended to attract worldwide investors by providing a faster alternative to existing visa procedures.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that the procedure is progressing slowly because officials want comprehensive background checks and a flawless deployment.

Trump gold card visa plan: big claims vs early reality gap

When the initiative first debuted, officials said it could earn billions of dollars and perhaps help reduce the national debt. However, the fact that only one approval has been given thus far demonstrates a significant disparity between expectations and present achievement.

Earlier indications indicated considerable demand, with thousands of people expressing interest during pre-registration. However, approvals remain highly limited in the early stages.

This mismatch has sparked debate over whether the programme is genuinely helpful or simply a long-term experiment.

Trump gold card visa cost, rules and future plan

The visa demands a $1 million donation in addition to a $15,000 processing cost. Successful applicants can live and work in the United States after passing stringent requirements, with the possibility of becoming citizens.

The same method also allows corporations to pay $2 million to sponsor international personnel.

The government is also preparing a higher-tier “Platinum Card” version, indicating that if the concept is successful, it could be expanded further.

Positive and negative impact of gold card visa

Positive side:

  • Attracts wealthy global investors
  • Can boost US economy and revenue
  • Creates a fast-track immigration option

Negative side:

  • Very slow approval process
  • High cost limits access to elite group only
  • Questions over fairness and real benefits

Final outlook

The Trump Gold Card visa is a bold idea, but early results indicate a slow start. With only one approval and hundreds waiting, the next few months will determine whether it is a financial success or a policy disaster.
