RTI Activist CJP Funding Probe : An RTI activist has approached several government officials, requesting a probe into the Cockroach Janta Party’s finances, registration status, and suspected assets. The allegations have reignited debate over openness, despite the fact that no official findings or formal investigations have been disclosed.

Amit Tiwari, an RTI activist based in Surat, filed the complaints. He has asked authorities to look into the party’s funding sources, legal status, and financial issues involving the family of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. The allegations request an investigation and do not constitute evidence of any misconduct.

RTI Activist CJP Funding Probe Raises Questions Over Registration and Funding

According to the complaints, Tiwari has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and the Maharashtra government. He has sought separate investigations into various parts of the case.

One of his primary demands is the verification of CJP’s registration status. Tiwari has requested that authorities evaluate if the organization is lawfully registered as a political party under the Representation of the People Act. If it is not registered, he has asked that officials investigate whether collecting or receiving funds in the name of a political party is in accordance with existing laws.

The RTI activist has also questioned the financial background of Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired Maharashtra government employee and Abhijeet Dipke’s father. Tiwari’s complaint urged that authorities investigate the source of finances for higher study abroad.

Another issue cited in the complaints concerns a legal defense fund established for demonstrators involved in the current agitation. Tiwari has requested that tax officials investigate whether any GST-related laws apply to the recently promised financial aid.

RTI Activist CJP Funding Probe Awaits Official Response

The allegations came after renowned counsel and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal pledged ₹1 million legal help for protesters facing police cases related to the movement. The legal assistance project has emerged as one of the topics raised by RTI activists.

In recent days, CJP leaders have also suggested that protests may restart if criminal charges against demonstrators are not dropped. The organization has stated that its primary focus is on giving legal assistance to demonstrators.

Currently, the RTI activist’s concerns remain requests for investigation. No government entity has launched a formal investigation or found any violations involving the CJP’s funding, registration, assets, or financial transactions.

Legal experts usually agree that complaints of this sort are investigated by the appropriate authorities before a judgment is made on whether further inquiry is required. Until such a process begins, the allegations will remain unproven.

The problem has added another layer to the current political debate over the recent protest movement. Supporters want more transparency, but others believe that due process should be followed before any conclusions are reached.
