During his official visit to South Korea, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the Indian War Memorial in Seoul, marking another significant step in the two countries’ strategic cooperation. According to reports, the unit treated around 2 lakh patients and performed approximately 2,500 procedures under tough battle conditions.
India also contributed to postwar peacekeeping efforts through the Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission. Following the armistice, the country led efforts to repatriate prisoners of war. Historians and defense experts have frequently characterized India’s involvement in the Korean War as one of diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, and global peacekeeping.
The memorial’s inauguration occurs at a time when both countries are growing cooperation in defense production, cyber security, and strategic technology. Rajnath Singh’s visit is seen as an attempt to strengthen long-term military and security ties between the two countries.
