Rajasthan Railway Blast Near Pakistan Border Disrupts Train Services

Rajasthan Railway Blast : A late-night explosion destroyed a railroad track in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district, near the India-Pakistan border, triggering a security alert and forcing the cancellation of multiple trains. Investigators from many agencies were to the scene following the tragedy, however the actual cause of the blast is unknown.

The explosion occurred at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday near 50 GB village in Anupgarh. The impacted portion is located along the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway line, near the Ramsinghpur police station.

The explosion obliterated two concrete blocks beneath the rails and created a hole approximately two feet deep. Railroad services on the affected line were halted as a precaution, with trains planned to run until 6 a.m. on Wednesday cancelled.

According to preliminary information, a passenger train passed through the same stretch around 45 minutes before the incident. There has been no official determination made on whether the railway track was purposefully targeted.

The damage was discovered beneath the railway lines, where two concrete support blocks were entirely demolished. A deep hole was also evident between the rails, demonstrating the magnitude of the explosion.

The incident’s location has focused attention on the border district’s security condition. Investigators have yet to ascertain if the explosion was caused by a bomb or another form of explosive material.

Several expert teams were dispatched to investigate the location. Personnel from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), dog squad, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) worked with railway officials and police.

Their investigation is focused at determining how the explosion occurred and identifying the materials involved. Investigators are also looking into whether the event was unintentional or included purposeful damage to railway infrastructure.

Rajasthan Railway Blast Probe Awaits Forensic Report

Senior police authorities and forensic specialists examined the damaged part of the railway line. An officer engaged in the inquiry stated that the teams had studied the place but that further research was required before making a decision.

When questioned if the event was a bomb explosion, the officer indicated it would be premature to call it that. The forensic examination and additional inquiry would assist in determining what had actually occurred.

Investigators were also asked about a possible relation to the recent recovery of 7.5 kg of RDX. The officer denied any link between the seizure and the railway track explosion.

The incident has also received notice because Rajasthan just experienced another explosives-related incident in Bhilwara. A massive explosion involving an explosives-laden pickup truck was reported there, killing the driver.

However, investigators have not found a link between the Bhilwara event and the explosion near Anupgarh. Based on the information available, both instances are treated separately.

For the time being, the investigation into the railway damage is limited to forensic findings and other information gathered on-site. Agencies have yet to determine the exact nature of the explosion or whether somebody intentionally intended to destroy the railway line.

Train operations on the affected segment were paused as a precaution, while investigators examined the scene. The final cause will be revealed only after the investigation is done.
