Goa Police have initiated an unnatural death complaint following allegations of renowned actor Nana Patekar’s demise at his bungalow in Goa. The case was lodged under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), while a post-mortem examination was undertaken at Goa Medical College (GMC) to ascertain the cause of death.
The report claims that doctors received Patekar in a deceased condition. The police inquiry and medical evaluation are part of the protocol followed in such situations.
Nana Patekar Death Case: What Doctors Found
Doctors reportedly gave a preliminary checkup pointing towards cardiac arrest. The actor was claimed to have a pre-existing heart ailment and was taking medicine for it. However, the initial examination does not identify the final cause of death.
A post-mortem study was carried out at Goa Medical College to help ascertain what led to the claimed death. The supplied information does not provide the final findings of the examination.
Under the method stated in the study, hospitals must contact the police when a person is brought in after death. The case is then addressed as a medico-legal matter, and more examination may be required to establish the circumstances.
The police registered the case under the relevant clause of the BNSS. Registration of an unnatural death case is a procedural step and does not, by itself, demonstrate that a crime occurred.
