Iran War Timeline: JD Vance Says US Will Not Set Deadline for End of Conflict

The Iran war timeline remains uncertain as US Vice President JD Vance refused to give a date for when the confrontation with Iran could end. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Vance said the Trump administration would not set a fixed deadline while Iranian forces continued attacking commercial ships.

Vance was asked whether the disagreement could be resolved before the November midterm elections. He avoided making a straight prediction and questioned whether the situation could currently be regarded as a war, stating that there was no active gunfire at the time, despite the fact that fighting had flared up in some locations.

He stated that the major combat phase had lasted around six weeks. During that time, US military operations dubbed as Midnight Hammer and Epic Fury targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, defense industrial base, and most of its conventional military capabilities.

Iran War Timeline Depends on Iran’s Actions

Vance believes that Iran’s conduct regarding commercial shipping will have a significant impact on the next stage of the conflict. He stated that the main question is when Tehran will cease firing on commercial vessels, and that only the Iranian side can determine when this will occur.

Vance also discussed the impact of the conflict on global energy markets. He said the disruption was easing day by day, but Washington was not willing to rely on Iran to act responsibly or engage in good faith.

The Syrian president opposed the concept of the United States announcing a set deadline for ending the conflict. He explained that establishing a timetable could cause complications if Iran continued to target oil and gas tankers after the US made such a commitment.

For example, he stated that saying that the crisis would be addressed in three months or even three days would be meaningless if Iranian soldiers continued to fight. Vance contended that Washington should not openly outline its approach or timeline for an Iranian government that, in his opinion, has failed to honor its promises.

No Clear End Date Before US Midterm Elections

Vance’s statements raise the issue of whether the conflict will be resolved before the November midterms. He did not rule out an end before the elections, but he also did not say whether the government expects the fight to stop by a specific date.

The United States and Iran are still at odds, with the Strait of Hormuz at the center of their conflict. The strategic canal is critical for international energy supplies, therefore attacks on commercial vessels are a big source of concern for Washington.

There are currently no active conversations taking place between Washington and Tehran. As a result, the Trump administration has refrained from making any public promises about when the conflict would be resolved.
