Indian Railways Vande Bharat Timings Changed for Two Trains From September 2

Indian Railways Vande Bharat timings for two trains on the Varanasi-Ranchi and Varanasi-Deoghar routes will change from September 2, 2026. Both trains will leave Varanasi 10 minutes earlier than their current departure times.

Passengers wishing to travel on either Vande Bharat Express should check the updated timetable before arriving at the station. Those who follow the old timetable may miss their train if they arrive at the former departure time.

Indian Railways Vande Bharat Timings for Varanasi-Ranchi

Trains 20888 and 20887, which travel between Varanasi and Ranchi, will have a revised departure time from September 2. Train 20888 is currently leaving Varanasi at 4:05 p.m.

According to the updated timetable, the train will leave Varanasi at 3:55 p.m., ten minutes sooner. Railroads has stated that there will be no changes to station timings following Varanasi.

The Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat runs six days a week but does not run on Tuesdays. It takes around 7 hours and 50 minutes to travel the 536-kilometer distance between the two cities.

The train makes stops along the way, including at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Sasaram, Gaya, Koderma, Hazaribagh Road, Parasnath, Bokaro Steel City, and Muri.

The service is provided by South Eastern Railroad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train on March 12, 2024, and regular service began on March 18, 2024.

Passengers can travel in AC Chair Car or Executive Chair Car coaches. The trip from Varanasi to Ranchi costs ₹1,470 for an AC Chair Car ticket and ₹2,695 for an Executive Chair Car ticket.

Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Will Also Leave Earlier

Train No. 22500, the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express, will also have its departure time shifted forward by 10 minutes from September 2.

The train is currently leaving Varanasi at 6:20 a.m. After the timetable adjustment, it will leave at 6:10 a.m.

Passengers who typically arrive at the station according to the existing schedule will need to plan their route accordingly. The amended departure time requires them to be at the station earlier in order to avoid missing the train.

The Railroads has confirmed that the timetables of this train at additional stations beyond Varanasi would remain the same.

What passengers should remember

Changes to the timetable effect both trains’ departure timings from Varanasi. The Varanasi-Ranchi service will depart at 3:55 pm instead of 4:05 pm, and the Varanasi-Deoghar service will depart at 6:10 am rather than 6:20 am.

Passengers departing after September 2 should double-check their tickets and the most recent railroad timetable before embarking on their journey.
