Japan Bear Sighting : A rare wildlife occurrence has disturbed daily life in northern Japan, prompting local authorities to temporarily close dozens of schools following the first reported bear sighting in the region.

Fukushima City officials ordered the suspension of classes at 94 schools and educational facilities as a precaution following the discovery of a bear wandering through a residential zone. The bear was initially spotted in a residential neighborhood near a park on Saturday evening in the metropolis of 500,000 citizens, located approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Tokyo. The animal is still at free following the last sighting on Monday morning, around half a kilometer from a middle school.
