CJP Chalo Sansad March : Tensions escalated in New Delhi during the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, when more than 80 police officers, including 10 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, were hurt in skirmishes with demonstrators. Following the chaos, over 100 demonstrators were detained, prompting a FIR and a police investigation.

The demonstration took place on July 20 during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, as thousands of protesters attempted to march toward Parliament amid tight security and restrictions in central Delhi. According to police, some protestors attempted to cross the barricades, resulting in conflicts between security officers and marchers.

According to Delhi Police, the situation deteriorated as some demonstrators allegedly flung stones, damaged public property, and targeted police vehicles attempting to manage the gathering. Over 80 police officers were hurt, including 10 IPS officers, and several other security professionals required medical attention.

Officials reported that two police buses were also destroyed during the ruckus. Police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the throng as protestors allegedly attempted to march toward Parliament despite limitations in the area.

Following the skirmishes, officials detained over 100 demonstrators for interrogation and launched an inquiry into the incident. Police authorities said CCTV footage, mobile videos, and social media posts were being analyzed to identify those involved in alleged violence and property destruction.

Delhi Police also appealed to people not to share unverified information or misleading videos online, stating that false claims could increase tensions during the ongoing probe.

CJP Chalo Sansad March Prompts Talks Amid Rising Political Tensions

Despite the conflicts, efforts were made to defuse tensions through communication. Following the government’s request for negotiations, CJP representatives met with BJP national president J.P. Nadda. CJP officials stated that the meeting gave an opportunity to express their concerns and requests to the administration.

The CJP has been organizing rallies against purported faults with the education system, particularly examination difficulties. The initiative has drawn students and young people from across India.

The large-scale demonstration also disrupted daily life in central Delhi. Security was beefed up surrounding Parliament, traffic restrictions were implemented, and several nearby neighborhoods experienced problems owing to the movement of big groups.

According to authorities, the investigation will continue, and those found responsible for harming police officers or damaging public property will face severe legal consequences. At the same time, the prospect of future talks between the government and protest leaders has opened the door to settling the matter through dialogue.
