US-Iran tensions have risen sharply after the U.S. military said it had completed another wave of strikes against Iran on Tuesday. The attacks targeted sites linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as fighting intensified after a weekend exchange of fire.
According to the U.S. Central Command, the strikes hit many IRGC targets. These comprised air defense stations, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communication facilities.

US-Iran Tensions Escalate After Weekend Fighting

The latest strikes followed fighting over the weekend, marking the first direct exchange of fire between the parties since late July. The situation had already deteriorated on Monday, when two tankers leaving the Strait of Hormuz were assaulted.
The Strait of Hormuz is an important route for worldwide oil supplies. Iran has virtually closed the strait to shipping during the crisis, raising fears about energy supply.
Iran also conducted attacks on US sites in Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq as part of its response.
Deaths Reported Near Strait of Hormuz
According to the Iranian Red Crescent, five people were murdered and 50 were injured during an attack on a wedding near Sirik, a seaside area near the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian media reported various casualty figures. According to Mehr news agency, a 4-year-old child was among those murdered, while the IRNA news agency, quoting a provincial official, stated that 68 people were wounded.
The latest bloodshed occurred after the United States and Israel initiated attacks on Iran on February 28. Iran then launched strikes on Israel and Gulf states that house US military sites.
The wider battle has resulted in many casualties. According to the source, US-Israeli attacks on Iran, as well as Israeli strikes in Lebanon, have killed thousands and displaced millions.
Oil Flows Through Strait Reach High Level
According to United States Energy Secretary Chris Wright, 17 million barrels of oil traveled through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. He described it as the most crude oil to pass through the channel since the war severely restricted flows.
The ongoing conflict has rendered the Strait of Hormuz a major issue for global oil markets. Any disturbance in the route can have an impact on the flow of enormous amounts of crude oil.
President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he is not attempting to force Iran into discussions. In a social media post, he asked when the Iranian people will rise up and fight.
The most recent exchange of assaults has contributed to the conflict’s unpredictability, as both sides continue military operations.
