Yogi Government Announces Free Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has offered free bus transportation for ladies during the Raksha Bandhan celebration. The facility will be open from 6 a.m. on August 27 until midnight on August 29.

Women will be able to travel free of charge on busses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). During this time, one individual traveling with a lady will be able to travel for free.

If a woman travels with more than one companion, the complimentary facility will only be available to her and one companion. Any additional passengers will have to pay the standard fare.

Yogi Government Extends Free Travel Period

The free travel package was originally announced for two days. The authorities eventually extended the period so that ladies may use the facility during Raksha Bandhan.

The longer arrangement will start at 6 a.m. on August 27 and last until midnight on August 29. The initiative aims to assist women in getting to and from their homes securely throughout the festival.

Officials Asked to Ensure Safe Travel

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with senior officials at his official house to review Raksha Bandhan plans.

Officials from the transport department, transport corporation, urban development department, police and traffic departments attended the meeting. The chief minister asked all concerned departments to work together so that women can travel safely and without unnecessary problems.

The government has also been urged to make similar preparations for more than 900 busses run by the Urban Development Department during the festival.

Special Arrangements at Major Places

The Yogi government has also asked officials to inspect private bus, vehicle, and taxi operators and take measures to safeguard the safety of female passengers.

Officials have been directed to organize coordination meetings with bus, taxi, and auto-tempo unions in all districts by August 25.

Special traffic arrangements will also be prepared for major religious and tourism sites. These include: Mathura-Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Vindhyachal-Mirzapur, and Gorakhpur.

Authorities have been instructed to pay special attention to traffic management in these areas because a high number of people are likely to travel during the festival.

The chief minister has also directed that further action be taken against overloading, speeding, high fares, and other offenses. Officials have been asked to monitor transportation services and take appropriate action against abnormalities.
