Vietnam-US Trade Deal Talks Show Progress as To Lam Sees Possible Agreement Soon

Vietnam-US trade deal negotiations have made positive progress, and Vietnamese leader To Lam said an agreement could be signed soon, according to a statement from the Vietnamese government on Tuesday.

Lam made these remarks after meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in New York. He is here to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

Vietnam-US Trade Deal Talks Near Final Stage

During the discussion, To Lam asked the United States to take a comprehensive approach to the unsolved trade concerns. These include matters concerning Washington’s Section 301 investigations.

The Vietnamese government stated that a trade deal will establish a stable and long-term framework for economic, commercial, and investment relations between Vietnam and the US.

The two countries have been striving to overcome a number of trade difficulties in order to boost their economic cooperation. The United States is Vietnam’s largest export market, thus the talks are especially vital for the Southeast Asian economy.

Lam also informed Greer that Vietnam has taken moves to improve collaboration with the US. He said that the government had increased imports of US commodities as part of its efforts to minimise its trade imbalance with Washington.

Greer informed To Lam that both countries’ negotiators worked really hard during the meetings. According to a Vietnamese government statement, he stated that the discussions had made significant progress and were now near to a conclusion.
