UAE Iran Strait of Hormuz Issue : The United Arab Emirates has applauded the ruling made by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Legal Committee during its 113th session, which strongly denounced Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as its attacks and threats against ships in the area, its alleged aggression against the territories of Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and associated maritime restrictions.
The Legal Committee also denounced Iran’s threats to plant mines in and around the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the alleged toll system it has placed on ships passing through the vital waterway, according to an official statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Committee added that these activities seriously jeopardize marine safety and international shipping.
The IMO Legal Committee upheld that such acts infringe the right of innocent passage through the Strait in its ruling, which was submitted by the UAE. It emphasized that this right cannot be impeded under international law.
According to a statement, the Committee urged Iran to stop its attacks, remove any naval mines it may have placed in and around the Strait of Hormuz, and fulfill its commitments under international law, especially making sure that ships can sail through the Strait without hindrance.
The UAE has welcomed a strong resolution by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) condemning Iran’s behavior in the Strait of Hormuz. This move comes at a time when there is growing worry about the safety and stability of one of the world’s most critical maritime routes.
The IMO Legal Committee condemned Iran’s threats against ships and interruption of international traffic. The UAE praised this decision, describing it as a crucial step toward protecting global trade and maritime safety.
UAE Iran Strait of Hormuz Issue : UAE IMO Condemns Iran Strait of Hormuz Actions Raising Global Alarm
According to official comments, the IMO strongly condemns Iran’s attempts to close ports and threats against regional shipping. It also warned that such actions endanger sailors and the sea environment.
The UAE stated that this decision demonstrates global powers’ cooperation in defending free movement in international waters. Officials emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is an important oil and trade route, and any disruption may have a global economic impact.
The committee also requested that Iran cease all attacks, remove sea mines, and adhere to international law. It was explicitly emphasized that ships must be able to pass securely and without fear or hindrance.
At the same time, this circumstance has both positive and negative aspects. On the one hand, global collaboration is growing, and significant steps are being taken to defend commercial routes. On the other hand, tensions in the region remain high, and the risk of confrontation persists.
According to recent reports, the Strait of Hormuz situation has already had an impact on global trade, including threats, attacks, and limited vessel traffic. These moves have boosted insurance premiums and created dread among ship operators.
Experts feel that this decision could help restore trust in international law. However, they warn that actual stability will be determined by Iran’s response and future actions.
Finally, the UAE’s support for the IMO judgment conveys a strong statement. It demonstrates a commitment to international security and free commerce. While the ruling provides optimism for safer waters, the situation remains sensitive, and the globe continues to keep a careful eye on it.
