However, Agovaka stated that the agreement with China should not be viewed as a barrier to cooperation with other countries. He stressed that the Solomon Islands remain willing to collaborate with Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Japan, and other international partners.

He also dismissed the notion that greater ties with China had supplanted the country’s historic connections. Instead, he stated that the administration seeks a foreign strategy that generates opportunities from every cooperation while defending national interests.
