North Korea Russia Ties : North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed their nations’ close connection as North Korea commemorated the 81st anniversary of its liberation from Japanese colonial control.

On Sunday, August 16, North Korea’s state news agency KCNA stated that Kim responded to Putin’s congratulatory message marking the August 15 anniversary.

The conversation emphasized the improving connection between Moscow and Pyongyang, which has grown dramatically in recent years. Both countries view their relationship as a strategic partnership, and their growing cooperation has sparked international interest.

The occasion is especially significant for North Korea because the Soviet Union helped defeat Japan at the end of World War II.
