Cockroach Janta Party Protest: New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has backed the Delhi Police after they prevented the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) from marching to Parliament on Monday. The demonstration occurred on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, when security around Parliament was already on high alert.

According to police, the organizers of the “Chalo Sansad” march did not have permission. As a result, security officers prevented protesters from moving beyond Jantar Mantar.

BJP leaders claimed the cops followed the law. They emphasized that defending Parliament is one of the government’s most important obligations.

According to the party, everyone has the right to peaceful protests. However, demonstrations near Parliament must adhere to legal guidelines and acquire official authority.

The BJP also stated that security agencies cannot flout rules, particularly when Parliament is in session. Party leaders contended that the same standards apply to all groups, regardless of political affiliation.

They denied allegations that the action was politically motivated. Instead, they claimed that the cops were only carrying out their duty.

Why Delhi Police Stopped the Parliament March

The Delhi Police stated no clearance had been provided for the march to Parliament. Officials also revealed that limitations had already been implemented in the New Delhi district due to the Monsoon Session.

Police installed barricades on multiple highways to keep demonstrators out of the high-security zone. Additional security personnel were also deployed around Parliament and the surrounding districts.

As the demonstrators attempted to continue forward, police halted them at various checkpoints. Several demonstrators claimed they were pushed back throughout the operation. However, Delhi Police stated that officers employed just the measures necessary to maintain law and order.

Police stated that public safety and Parliament security were their major responsibilities throughout the day.

Political Reactions Over the Cockroach Janta Party Protest

The tragedy triggered widespread political reactions across the country.

Opposition politicians condemned the police action and accused the administration of suppressing democratic movements. They stated that nonviolent demonstrations should not meet unnecessary restrictions.

The BJP vehemently denied these charges. Party officials stated that the problem was about security, not politics. They contended that no organisation could arrange a march to Parliament without approval.
