The pair, identified as Sugathan, 67, and his wife Latha, 60, had reportedly traveled from the UAE to Kerala a few days before for a brief family visit. According to local accounts, they were about to travel back to Dubai when the event occurred at their residence in the Kollam district.

Initial police discoveries indicate that the case may include suicide, however investigators have not ruled out alternative possibilities. According to reports, Sugathan was found hanging in a bedroom, and Latha was discovered laying on a bed inside the residence. Investigators are currently awaiting post-mortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Authorities also discovered flight tickets at the apartment, confirming that the pair intended to fly for the UAE within hours. The discovery has given emotional weight to the case, particularly among Malayali expatriate communities in the Gulf.

Neighbors described the couple as modest and courteous individuals who had spent many years working abroad. Some stories stated the family was under financial stress, although authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of death.

UAE Indian Expat Community Shocked After Kerala Death Case

The terrible deaths sparked significant social media comments, with many Indians living in the UAE expressing their grief and concern over rising stress levels among expatriate families. Community organisations have also urged those experiencing emotional or financial challenges to seek help before things worsen.

In recent years, several fatal occurrences involving Indian expats in the UAE have highlighted mental health issues, loneliness, and familial constraints. Community leaders believe that stronger counseling and social outreach initiatives are required for Gulf workers and returning expatriates.
