Qatar Confirms Adequate Water for Four Months and Food for 18 Months

Qatar : The State of Qatar’s Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, said that the country has bolstered its strategic food security stockpiles, stating that they are adequate to meet needs for eighteen months.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani stated that the current situation has not yet necessitated the use of these reserves, noting that efforts are still being made to support and reinforce them and that additional supply lines have been opened in order to ensure the stability of food supplies, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The minister acknowledged that the situation is comforting with regard to the strategic water reserves, pointing out that Qatar has been working for the past few years to develop an integrated water security system based on bolstering strategic storage capacity.

In order to guarantee the continuous availability and sustainability of water under all circumstances, he pointed out that there is a strategic water reserve that is adequate for roughly four months of consumption. He added that the relevant authorities are continuing to improve the reserve and increase its storage capacity within the framework of national water security plans.

Regarding the health sector’s preparedness, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani emphasised the execution of health sector plans in compliance with previously established protocols to guarantee the community’s continuous access to healthcare services.

He pointed out that a nine-month supply of vital medications and a twelve-month supply of medical supplies had been strategically preserved, guaranteeing the uninterrupted provision of healthcare services.

The minister added that as part of national water security measures, authorities are continuing to increase storage capacity, and Qatar presently has enough strategic water reserves to cover about four months’ worth of use.

Sheikh Khalifa stated that in order to guarantee the continuous provision of medical services, the health sector is putting approved backup plans into action.

He continued by saying that Qatar has kept medical supplies that can last up to a year in addition to a strategic reserve of necessary medications good for nine months.
