Global AI summit : As India prepares to host the International AI Impact Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised how the gathering of world and technology leaders would aid progress efforts to build a better world.
On Friday, he made the statements while addressing at the Global Business Summit in the nation’s capital.
In a post on X, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw echoed PM Modi’s views, saying, “Many countries from around the world and tech experts are coming to India to participate in the Global AI Impact Summit. Together, we shall continue to work tirelessly to create a better world.”
The upcoming India-AI Impact Summit, the first worldwide AI Summit to be hosted in the Global South, will be anchored in three guiding “sutras” of People, Planet, and Progress, and structured around seven key “chakras,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday.
The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 will feature 20 leaders from around the world, according to an official press release from the Ministry of External Affairs.

According to the press release, the Summit will be attended by ministerial delegations from over 45 nations, as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and senior officials from various international agencies.
Several Heads of State and Government have accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to attend the Summit.

Global AI summit from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi
The India-AI Impact Summit will take place from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, making it the first global AI summit to be organised in the ‘Global South’.
The Summit, which will take place over five days and encompass policy, research, industry, and public engagement, is intended to bring together global leaders, legislators, technology companies, innovators, and experts to discuss AI’s role in governance, innovation, and sustainable development.
The India AI Impact Expo, which will cover 70,000 square metres, is planned to feature over 300 exhibitors from 30 nations spread across ten subject pavilions, demonstrating AI’s transformation from research and pilots to large-scale deployment.
The Summit expands on India’s development-focused approach to AI, is consistent with the India AI Mission and the Digital India Initiative, and focuses on turning global AI ideas into practical, people-centric solutions.
The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 seeks to promote discussion around responsible AI governance, innovation ecosystems, digital public infrastructure, climate-conscious technology, and equitable access to emerging technologies.
The Summit is envisioned as a critical worldwide venue for shaping a future-oriented agenda for inclusive, responsible, and impactful AI, with the goal of moving beyond high-level debates to create real outcomes that support economic growth, social development, and the long-term usage of AI.
