“Donald Trump Calls India-Pakistan Ceasefire a Major 2025 Achievement”

US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his assertion that he prevented a potential ‘nuclear’ war between India and Pakistan last May, when the two countries were engaged in heightened military escalation during Operation Sindoor. The White House stated that “brokering a ceasefire” between New Delhi and Islamabad was one of Trump’s significant accomplishments during the first 365 days of his second term in office.

“In ten months, I put an end to eight unending wars, including those between Pakistan and India. They were really going for it. Eight aircraft were shot down. They were about to go nuclear, in my opinion. The Prime Minister of Pakistan was in Washington, and he claimed, “President Trump saved 10 million people and possibly much more.” Trump spoke to the media at the White House to honor the end of the first year of his second term.

Later, in a statement headlined “365 Wins in 365 Days: President Trump’s Return Marks New Era of Success and Prosperity,” the White House stated that the President achieved “transformative results” in border security, crime reduction, economic recovery, energy dominance, and international diplomacy. Among the foreign policy highlights, the White House stated that the Trump administration achieved peace between India and Pakistan, putting South Asia alongside many other regions where Washington claims to have played a key diplomatic role.

India has denied that any third entity will play a role in settling the India-Pakistan war in 2025.

Since May 2025, the US president has often claimed that he intervened in the crisis between India and Pakistan, stating that US pressure and tariff threats helped settle tensions between Delhi and Islamabad as the two nuclear-armed neighbours were locked in a military confrontation. Trump’s words coincided with his public push for the Nobel Peace Prize, which he ultimately did not receive.

He again expressed his disappointment at not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Should have received the Nobel Prize for each conflict. But I do not say that. I saved millions of people. Don’t let anyone tell you Norway doesn’t have control over the shoots, okay? It is in Norway. Norway calls the shots. That is why I respect Maria for what she did. She answered, ‘I don’t deserve the Nobel Prize,’ but he does.”

India’s Stand

India, on the other hand, has constantly denied Trump’s claims, insisting that the truce between the two countries was reached without the need of third-party mediation.

India has consistently claimed that the ceasefire was reached directly between New Delhi and Pakistan following the launch of Operation Sindoor, which targeted Pakistani terror bases in response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, the majority of whom were tourists.

Trump’s statements coincided once more with his public sadness in not earning the Nobel Peace Prize. He argued that his contribution in resolving many global wars merited recognition.

“I should have gotten a Nobel Prize for each conflict. “I saved millions of lives,” Trump remarked, adding that Norway “calls the shots” when it comes to giving the honor.

Trump has previously stated similar ideas, but has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
