Ladki Behen Yojana: The Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin Yojana is continually making headlines. The ruling party benefited greatly from this strategy. Meanwhile, the state government planned to release advance installments for December and January in January. The State Election Commission had put a hold on this advance payment. State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has released a remark on the subject. Fadnavis told reporters in Pune, Maharashtra, that his government, in accordance with the State Election Commission’s (SEC) directive, will not disburse the January advance installment under the “Ladki Bahin Yojana” to qualified women.
Speaking to reporters in Pune, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that till now, underprivileged women had received advance installments under the “Ladki Bahin Yojana” during key festivals. The monthly payment of ₹1,500 under this plan will be deposited into their accounts after January 16th. Let us inform you that the ballots for the elections of the state’s 29 municipal corporations will be counted on January 16.
The Election Commission prohibited advance payments.
The Election Commission has directed that, while the scheme’s previous and regular benefits would remain, no advance payments will be paid during the code of conduct. The Election Commission has received numerous complaints about this. Municipal elections in the state are slated for January 15th. Previously, the government planned to deposit advance payments for the months of December and January into women’s Ladki Behen Yojana accounts on January 14. However, the Election Commission has now prohibited this.
Ban on the selection of new beneficiaries
According to reports, following the Chief Secretary’s report, the Election Commission stated that under the Code of Conduct, only works in progress prior to the election announcement can be continued. During this time, the government is not permitted to make advance payments or choose new beneficiaries for the scheme, according to the Commission’s directive. This ruling has foiled the government’s attempt to use women as a vote bank during Sankranti.
