Russia-Ukraine war : Russia’s midnight strikes on Kyiv province killed two people on Monday, after air raid warnings were given across the country, accordin g to Ukrainian officials.

Tymur Tkachenko, chief of the city’s military administration, confirmed that one person was murdered in Kyiv. Another victim, a man in his 70s, died in the neighboring city of Fastiv, according to Kyiv Regional Governor Mykola Kalashnyk.
“So far, one person has been killed in the incident. According to Reuters, Tkachenko stated in a post on the Telegram chat service that the attack was still ongoing.
The latest bombings come as Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukraine. Meanwhile, Kyiv and its allies are working to conclude a US-brokered plan to end Europe’s bloodiest conflict since World War II.
The violence comes after a devastating weekend of cross-border attacks. Local officials reported that two persons were killed in Ukrainian drone strikes in Russia’s border regions on Sunday.
A drone collided with a car in the Belgorod region, killing one and injuring two others, including a little kid, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Regional Governor Alexander Khinshtein confirmed that another person was killed in a drone strike on a village in the Kursk region.
Drone strikes in Ukraine overnight into Sunday injured three persons in the Kharkiv region, according to the State Emergency Service.

The escalation coincides with increased diplomatic efforts to settle the nearly four-year-old conflict. National security advisers from Europe and other allies visited Kyiv on Saturday to discuss security assurances and economic assistance as part of a US-led peace effort.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said work on peace proposals could now move more quickly after Ukraine exchanged critical documents with 18 national security advisers, including those pertaining to security assurances.
He stated that representatives from Ukraine’s General Staff and military sector were scheduled to meet in Paris on Monday, followed by meetings between European leaders on Tuesday.
Zelenskyy, who is prepared to travel to Paris, expressed his optimism that documents on security guarantees would be finalized during the meetings. He noted that conversations with US representatives were also planned.
