Russia – China performed a “long-range joint flight” from the Sea of Japan to the East China Sea amid rising tensions between Tokyo and Beijing, according to the Japanese Defense Ministry.
Japan and South Korea responded by scrambling their jets to watch the Russian and Chinese air forces: two Russian Tu-95 nuclear-capable strategic bombers and two Chinese H-6 bombers. Four Chinese J-16 fighters joined the remainder of the bombers on their flight between Japan’s Okinawa and Miyako islands.
