INDIA Bloc Rally Today: On Sunday, thousands of people gathered in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan for an INDIA bloc demonstration. The demonstrators expressed worries regarding voter lists and called for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The event centered on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral records and the deployment of Electronic Voting Machines. Opposition parties claim that eligible voters were deleted from voting lists during the revision process. They also want paper ballots to replace electronic voting machines (EVs).
The demonstrators chanted chants condemning alleged vote stealing. The INDIA group said that the Election Commission must defend voters’ rights and guarantee a fair electoral process.
INDIA Bloc Rally Today Raises SIR and EVM Issues
Prior to the protest, Rahul Gandhi invited residents of Delhi and surrounding states to participate in the march. He encouraged people to congregate at Connaught Place and walk to Ramlila Maidan, or to go directly to the rally location.
Gandhi posted a route plan on X and encouraged people to take part in the march, which was set to begin at midday. His message used the motto “Save the Vote, Save the Nation” and the hashtag #ChaloDilli.
Some protesters came from different states to attend the event. People arriving from Punjab reported lengthy delays and said that roads were blocked near the Haryana border. Some outstation workers accused the police of preventing them from reaching Delhi. The demonstrators made these charges.
The opposition has sought Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, citing worries over the voting process. The gathering comes after a symbolic’mock impeachment’ event staged at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s home on Saturday.
Several opposition figures were anticipated to attend the event. They included Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and Tejashwi Yadav.
