CJP Protest in Delhi Turns Tense as Two Police Personnel Are Injured

Two police officers were hurt during a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in New Delhi on Saturday after a group of protesters allegedly threw stones at security personnel near Akashwani Bhawan. Police detained around 500 people as demonstrators attempted to march toward Jantar Mantar despite the fact that permission for the gathering had been denied.

Around noon, approximately 25 to 30 protesters reportedly crossed barricades and showered security personnel with stones. Officials say several of those involved were detained as a result of the confrontation.

The demonstration was organised to criticise Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Security measures were intensified throughout the New Delhi district to prevent demonstrators from reaching their intended destination.

CJP Protest in Delhi Leads to Detentions

Police had refused permission for the demonstration before it began at 10:30 a.m. Police and paramilitary troops were positioned to prevent participants from convening at Jantar Mantar, where prohibitory orders were in effect.

Officers were stationed at major intersections and roads leading to the protest site. Authorities also divided the district into 20 sectors, which were overseen by senior officers.

Despite these precautions, groups of demonstrators tried to approach Jantar Mantar from various sections of the city. Police pursued some protestors who attempted to regroup or leave the police perimeter.

Several individuals were apprehended in several locations, including Connaught Place. Others were stopped and sent back before they could make it to the intended gathering.

The situation turned tense as security moved in to disperse the throng and arrest demonstrators. Some demonstrators continued to yell anti-police slogans as policemen led them to buses.

As they were hauled away, a handful of detained demonstrators raised the phrase “Inquilab Zindabad”. According to officials, some 500 persons were apprehended during the police operation.

CJP Protest Sees Leaders Detained at Delhi Airport

CJP leaders Abhijit Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were detained as a result of the demonstration. According to officials, they were detained at Delhi’s airport upon arrival.

Their detention came when police imposed restrictions across the district and sought to keep the demonstration from reaching Jantar Mantar. The planned demonstration was supposed to take place in the morning, but security personnel blocked entrance to the designated area.

The stone-throwing incident near Akashwani Bhawan heightened tensions. According to authorities, two police officers were injured as demonstrators allegedly threw stones at security personnel on Imtiaz Ali Marg.

Detentions were made in numerous locations, efforts were made to disperse groupings of demonstrators, and buses were used to bring individuals taken into custody.

The events caused the planned CJP demonstration to be significantly interrupted by security limitations. With permission denied and prohibitory orders in effect, police continued to try to prevent demonstrators from gathering near Jantar Mantar.
