Weather update: The department of meteorology has issued a warning for dense fog and a chilly wave over the country. According to the IMD, a cold wave is anticipated to hit eastern, central, and northern peninsular India between December 11 and 12, 2025. The Meteorological Department anticipates severe fog in isolated portions of Manipur and Assam from December 11 to 13, 2025. Similar weather patterns are forecast in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

The Department of Meteorology has issued a dense fog signal for 15 northern Indian cities, including Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Amritsar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Tundla, Shimla, Kufri, Keylong, Lahaul Spiti, Faridkot, Roop Nagar, Mussoorie, and Nainital. Additionally, some fog is forecast in Delhi. The Meteorological Department predicts severe fog in the capital on December 11, 2025.

Cold weather exacerbates situations in these states.

Haryana and Punjab are also facing severe cold weather right now. The Meteorological Department predicts that the temperature would be 5.6 degrees Celsius in Pathankot, 5 degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur, 5.8 degrees Celsius in Bathinda, and 3.8 degrees Celsius in Faridkot. Furthermore, temperatures were reported at 9.2 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana, 6.1 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, and 10.1 degrees Celsius in Patiala. Haryana’s cold wave has also worsened, with temperatures in Rohtak, Bhiwani, Sirsa, and Narnaul plunging below 10 degrees Celsius.

Weather Conditions in Mountains

The Alps are suffering extreme cold these days. Heavy snowfall has aggravated the situation in many parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The low temperature in Srinagar has plummeted to 0–3.7 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in Kupwara and Qazigund had dipped to 3.6 degrees Celsius. Himachal Pradesh is also witnessing considerable snowfall at higher elevations, making the temperature much colder. Snowfall is also being reported in various parts of Uttarakhand.
