Venkatesh Prasad, a former India cricketer, has been voted as the new president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Elections for the same were held on Sunday, December 7. Prasad, the leader of Team Game Changers, defeated KN Shanth Kumar, a member of the Brijesh Patel-backed team.
One of the main discussion points of the Prasad-led panel was bringing cricket back to Chinnaswamy, which included IPL (Indian Premier League) matches as well as the Indian cricket team. It is worth noting that no prominent matches have been played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium since the rush outside the stadium following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL title win in 2025.

DK Shivakumar, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, attended the stadium to vote and pledged to do everything in his ability to bring cricket back to the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“Will not allow IPL matches to be moved from the Chinnaswamy stadium. This is about Bengaluru and Karnataka’s pride. We will make sure IPL matches are staged here. I am a fan of cricket. We will ensure that similar situations do not occur again and that the stadium’s reputation is maintained. Cricbuzz quotes DK Shivakumar as adding, “We will also build a new cricket stadium as an alternative.”
Following his win, Venkatesh Prasad took to X.
