Venezuela attack : Colombian President Gustavo Petro was warned by his US counterpart Donald Trump to “watch his a**” when Nicolas Maduro was imprisoned in New York nearly a day after Washington launched military Operation Absolute Resolve against Venezuela.

He told the press, “He’s making cocaine and they’re sending it into the United States, so he does have to watch his a**.” Without addressing one of his closest supporters, Maduro, Petro branded Washington’s moves as a “assault on the sovereignty” of Latin America, predicting a humanitarian calamity.

Petro has been a vocal critic of Trump’s military operations in the Caribbean to combat alleged drug trafficking vessels. As part of his anti-drug agenda, Trump recently stated that he would not exclude out bombing drug-production facilities in Colombia, which Petro had criticized as a threat to invasion.

Hours after Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were evacuated from Caracas, Trump stated that the US will temporarily “run” the country. “We’ll run the country until we can make a safe, proper, and judicious transition,” he added, adding that the US is prepared to launch a second, far larger attack if necessary.

Speaking about the United States’ broader objectives in Latin America, Trump stated that American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will not be questioned again. “We want to surround ourselves with kind neighbors. We want to surround ourselves with steadiness. We want to surround ourselves with vitality. That country has a tremendous amount of energy. It’s critical that we protect it. “We need that for ourselves,” he explained.

Trump expressed confidence in Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and her readiness to do everything it takes to make the country “great again,” while questioning domestic support for opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. “I believe it would be difficult for her (Machado) to be the leader. She lacks support and respect within the country. “She’s a very nice woman, but she lacks respect,” he said.

Venezuela attack : In terms of future plans for Venezuela , Trump stated

In terms of future plans for Venezuela, Trump stated that the US will send oil corporations to the country to spend billions of dollars to repair the “badly broken oil infrastructure” and generate revenue for the country. “We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country.” The embargo on all Venezuelan oil remains in full place. The American armada remains in position, and the United States will use all military options until its demands are fully met and satisfied,” he told reporters.

Messages to Mexico and Cuba

Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that Cuba could be the next target for the Trump administration. “If I lived in Havana and was in the government, I’d be concerned at least a little bit,” said Rubio, who has long been interested in Venezuela and Cuba.

The United States has a lengthy history of military involvement in Latin America, notably its support for the failed 1961 Bay of Pigs assault led by Cuban exiles attempting to depose Fidel Castro.

Trump also stated that “something must be done with Mexico,” adding that President Claudia Sheinbaum is a good woman but does not control the country. “We’re really friendly with her (Sheinbaum); she’s a kind woman. However, the cartels have taken control of Mexico. “She’s not running Mexico,” Trump declared. He stated that he has repeatedly asked Sheinbaum, “Would you like us to take out the cartels?” but she has declined.
