US Venezuela Military Operation : According to analysts, the US military operation that apprehended Venezuela’s president on Saturday will force governments across Latin America to reconsider how far China and Russia can protect their partners if Washington decides to intervene, as the US signals a more assertive approach to the region.

The operation, which deposed President Nicolas Maduro and placed Venezuela in a “transition” supervised by the US, was the most direct American military engagement in Latin America in decades.
It provided real form to US President Donald Trump’s recently revealed national security strategy, which affirms US leadership in the Western Hemisphere, according to US sources.
“What matters is not the rhetoric, but whether it is followed by action,” said Eric Farnsworth, a senior associate with the Americas Programme at Washington’s Center for Strategic and International Studies.
“What happened in Venezuela shows this is not just language in a strategy document,” she said.
Trump stated that US soldiers would remain in situ for the foreseeable future, overseeing a political transition while keeping Venezuelan oil flowing to global markets, including China.
Following Maduro’s drug trafficking indictment by the US, the White House portrayed the operation as both a national security and law enforcement effort.

Trump underlined that message on Sunday night, using unusually direct language to suggest that the US could extend its pressure beyond Venezuela to other regional nations.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, he called Colombian President Gustavo Petro “a sick man” and labeled both Colombia and Venezuela as “very sick” countries. When asked if this indicated the US might launch military action against Colombia, Trump said, “Sounds good to me.”
The president stated that Cuba’s regime appeared to be deteriorating and “looking ready to fall,” while also pushing Mexico to “get their act together” and indicating that he would take action to combat drug trafficking there.
Across Latin America, nations issued public declarations urging patience and respect for sovereignty, while privately considering the consequences of a US action that deposed a sitting president allied with Beijing and Moscow.
Russia, a longtime political and military ally of Caracas, criticized the operation but took little tangible action, a decision Farnsworth predicted would reverberate throughout the region.
