Trump Seeks China’s Entry Into Fresh US-Russia Nuclear Deal as START Ends

US-Russia Nuclear Deal : On Thursday, US President Donald Trump wanted a ‘new’ and ‘better’ nuclear pact with Russia, intending to include China. The present agreement has expired.

China, with a big and steadily growing arsenal, has bluntly and openly rejected the ‘push’ to join the accord, although being substantially smaller than the US and Russia.

On the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that instead of extending the ‘badly-negotiated’ New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START, with Moscow, the US should negotiate the pact. The deal, first negotiated in 2011, officially expired on Thursday, February 5.

“The United States is the most powerful country in the world,” said the president of the United States. During my first tenure, I rebuilt the military with new and reconditioned nuclear weapons.Rather than extending ‘NEW START’ (a badly negotiated deal by the United States that, among other things, is being grossly violated), we should have our Nuclear Experts work on a new, improved, and modernized Treaty that will last for a long time,” Trump added on his social media network, Truth Social.

POTUS talked highly of the American arsenal, claiming that he has avoided several potential nuclear wars, saying, “We are also adding battleships which are 100 times more powerful than the ones that roamed the seas during World War II – the Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, and others.”

Will China Join the US-Russia Nuclear Deal

According to Lin Jian, a spokesman for the foreign ministry, “China’s nuclear forces are not on the same level as those of the United States and Russia, and China will not participate in disarmament negotiations at this stage.” This suggests that Beijing is not taking the offer into consideration. Trump has previously stated that he wanted China to be included in the new agreement.

China urged the United States to respond positively after Russia advised that both parties adhere to the treaty’s main limitations. News reported.
