UAE Intercepts 13 Missiles and 27 Drones Today

(Abu Dhabi) UAE air defences : According to the Ministry of Defence, the UAE’s air defence systems intercepted 10 Iranian ballistic missiles and 45 drones on March 17.

The interceptions are part of ongoing actions to counter what the ministry describes as persistent attacks on the country.

Since the beginning of the attacks, UAE air defences have dealt with 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 drones.

The attacks killed two UAE Armed Forces members while on duty, as well as six civilians of Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian origin.

A further 157 people have been hurt, with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Those affected include UAE nationals as well as expats from a variety of nations, representing the country’s broad demographic.

A fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone as a result of a drone attack on Tuesday, according to the emirate’s media office, with no injuries recorded. Meanwhile, the UAE has announced a temporary and complete closure of its airspace.

The United Arab Emirates halted operations at its Ruwais Refinery last week as a precaution after a drone strike started a fire in the industrial area where the facility is situated.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump urged South Korea, France, China, and the United Kingdom to help secure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz remained closed to “enemies and those who support their aggression.”

“Since the onset of the blatant Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have engaged 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,672 UAVs. These attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of 2 members of the armed forces while performing their national duty, as well as 6 fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian nationalities,” the ministry said.
