Thailand VIDEO : A woman in Thailand astonished temple personnel when she began moving within her casket shortly before her funeral. The event took place in Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist temple in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok. The temple shared a video on Facebook showing the 65-year-old woman resting in a white casket in the back of a pickup van.

The temple staff spotted her arms and head twitching slightly. The temple’s general manager, Parat Sudthup, told the Associated Press (AP) that they first heard a faint knocking sound from inside the casket, which shocked them.

Parat stated, “I was a little surprised and asked to open the coffin. Everybody was afraid. I watched her slightly open her eyelids and tap the coffin wall. She must have been doing this for a long time.

The woman’s brother stated that she had been bedridden for two years and that her health had gradually deteriorated. Two days ago, the family believed she had ceased breathing. Believing she was dead, the brother placed her in a casket and drove her 500 kilometers to a hospital in Bangkok, where the woman desired to give her organs.

However, the hospital declined to accept the organ donation without a death certificate.

The brother then brought the woman to the temple for a free funeral, but the temple was unable to perform the final rites without the appropriate documentation.

Meanwhile, as Parat explained the process of acquiring a death certificate, the staff heard a knocking sound from the coffin.

The temple quickly sent the woman to a local hospital and agreed to bear the full cost of her treatment.
