Afghanistan : Taliban Says 19 Pakistani Posts Seized,55 Pakistani Soldiers Dead

Kabul [Afghanistan]: The Taliban-led Afghan government announced on Thursday that its forces had captured 19 Pakistani military outposts and killed 55 Pakistani soldiers during a major border operation, blaming recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory.

Afghanistan has never officially accepted the Durand Line, which runs 2,611 kilometres (1,622 miles) between the two countries.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Afghanistan’s Deputy Spokesperson, said that heavy retaliatory operations had begun along the Durand Line, capturing one headquarters and 19 Pakistani posts.

He claimed that up to 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed, 23 bodies were uncovered, and some were arrested alive, while dozens of weapons, a tank, and a harvester were seized. The activities appear to be underway in Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Kunar, Nuristan, Nangarhar, and the Torkham Gate.

In a piece for X, Fitrat commented: ‘Along the so-called Durand Line, heavy retaliatory offensive operations have been launched against the enemy by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan through the 203 Mansouri Corps and the 201 Khalid bin Walid Corps at various points in the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Kunar, Nuristan, Nangarhar, and at the Torkham Gate’.

Nineteen outposts and one headquarters have been taken so far; four outposts were deserted and abandoned, and the positions were completely demolished. Twenty-three of the fifty-five Pakistani troops who were killed were transported alive and placed in the Mujahideen’s hands, along with a few more. One tank has been destroyed, one International Harvester vehicle has been stolen, and dozens of light and heavy weapons have been seized as prizes. Retaliatory hostile actions were still taking place, according to the post.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated

Previously, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid announced that massive operations had begun against Pakistani army stations and military facilities along the Durand Line in response to Pakistani forces’ ongoing strikes.

When asked about X, Mujahid replied: “In response to the repeated instances of rebellion and assaults by Pakistani military circles, extensive offensive operations have begun against Pakistani army centers and military facilities along the Durand Line.”

He went on to say that the large operation is being led by the Armed Forces’ Chief of Staff, Fasihuddin Fitrat.
