CBSE : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued updated school guidelines, emphasizing the importance of meeting deadlines for direct admissions and subject change requests in Classes 10 and 12 for the academic year 2025-26.

According to the announcement, schools can only conduct direct admissions to classes 10 and 12 until August 31, 2025. By September 2, 2025, all such cases must be documented in tabular form separately for each classes, accompanied by the necessary paperwork, and submitted to the corresponding CBSE Regional Office.

Exam management in a “fair, transparent, and time-bound manner” is a shared responsibility of CBSE, school management, principals, teachers, parents, and students, the Board emphasized in a circular sent to partner schools. It added that “it is essential that all affiliated schools and stakeholders strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines and guidelines issued by the Board.”

Direct Admissions Deadlines

The deadline for regional offices to grant permissions has been set as September 15, 2025. An exemption has been allowed for pupils seeking admission after August 31 due to the transfer of a parent who works in government service. In such circumstances, the Board ordered that documents “be sent to the concerned Regional Office so that they reach within two days of admission through Harkara.”
