Sharjah: The Sharjah Government Media Bureau has issued a set of security recommendations explaining how the public should respond when official emergency alerts are issued, emphasising the necessity of maintaining calm and relying solely on official information.
The guidance emphasises preventive steps aimed to safeguard public safety during emergency situations and encourages residents to strictly adhere to orders issued by relevant authorities.
Safety within buildings in Sharjah
According to the rules, persons inside homes, offices, or other buildings should avoid balconies, windows, and other exposed areas and instead seek refuge in a secure inside environment.
Residents are also asked to pay close attention to notifications issued via internal broadcast systems or directions from building security officers. Authorities advise not using lifts until advised, avoiding glass barriers or surfaces, and keeping indoors until the UAE Ministry of Interior issues an official notification confirming that the situation is safe.
Outdoor Safety Tips
The advisory recommended that anyone who is outside during an alert go to the nearest safe building as away. Drivers are encouraged to go slowly to the next acceptable spot where they can securely seek shelter.
