Drone Attack Sparks Fire at Shah Gas Field in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi : The Abu Dhabi Media Office reported that authorities are responding to a fire at the Shah gas field caused by a drone attack.

Emergency personnel have been dispatched to quell the fire and assess the situation. According to authorities, no injuries have been reported thus far. As additional information becomes available, we will provide more updates.

Operations at the enormous Shah natural gas field in the United Arab Emirates have been halted while officials analyse the damage caused by a fire started by a drone assault on Monday.

The blaze at the high-sulfur gas field in the Empty Quarter desert west of Abu Dhabi has been brought under control, according to the UAE capital’s media office. There were no injuries recorded.

The attack on Shah comes as Iranian drones and missiles have targeted oil facilities in the Persian Gulf as the US and Israel’s war with Iran enters its third week. Many prior strikes have targeted ports, refineries, and storage sites.

Meanwhile, an attack was launched on the Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq, according to an Iraq Oil Ministry official who provided no further details.

The UAE halted output at its Ruwais oil refinery last week as a precautionary measure following a drone strike that ignited a fire in the industrial area where it is located.

Fujairah, an important Emirati port, restarted partial operations after a drone started a fire over the weekend.

In a statement put on X, the government’s media office said emergency services had gotten the blaze under control and there were no injuries, but “operations at the facility have been suspended while damage is assessed.”
