Russia-Ukraine war : On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin’s senior adviser stated that while discussions between Russia and the United States to end the almost four-year-old war in Ukraine were positive, more work needed to be done. On Tuesday, Russian President Putin met with Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner in the Kremlin in an effort to broker a peace deal.
However, neither party revealed any specifics about the deliberation.
“Some of the American plans appear more or less acceptable, but they need be considered. Some of the proposed phrasing does not suit us. So the process will continue,” Putin’s adviser Yuri Ushakov stated.

“We could agree on several points, which the president affirmed to his interlocutors. Other items drew criticism, and the president didn’t disguise our critical and even unfavorable views on a number of ideas,” he added.
Previously, a major meeting took held in Florida, where a Ukrainian delegation reviewed the peace plan with senior US officials. Following the talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed cautious optimism, saying there were some signs of progress.

Notably, President Donald Trump has announced a peace plan. The initiative, which was made public last month, received quick condemnation for appearing to benefit Moscow’s interests. Key sections of the proposal echoed long-standing Kremlin demands, which Ukraine has repeatedly refused.

According to the initial plan, Kyiv would have to hand up the whole Donbas territory to Russia and abandon its aspiration to join NATO. Ukrainian officials have strongly rejected these requirements, deeming them unacceptable.
Negotiators now claim that the plan has been amended, but they have not specified how the framework has changed. Clarity on the amended terms has yet to appear.
