Rajnath Singh underlines the armed forces' discipline and connectivity strength during 'Operation Sindoor'

On Sunday (December 7), India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, lauded the Indian armed forces for their disciplined and measured conduct throughout ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was initiated in May in response to the horrific Pahalgam terror incident. Singh underlined that, while the forces had the power to escalate, they chose moderation, demonstrating both courage and strategic prudence.

Operation Sindoor: A calibrated response.

Operation Sindoor started on May 7 to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam incident, which killed 26 persons, predominantly tourists. Singh praised the military forces’ effective execution of the operation, stating that, while they “could have done much more,” their decision to respond in a measured and calibrated manner demonstrated their discipline and professionalism. The military response neutralized terrorist threats without raising tensions further.

Excellent coordination between military and people.

Singh emphasized the exceptional coordination involved in Operation Sindoor between the armed forces, civil administration, and civilians in border regions, particularly Ladakh. He thanked the local communities for their invaluable assistance, saying, “This coordination is what defines our identity.” He stated that this synergy forms a unique national link that improves India’s resilience and unity in the face of external challenges.

According to Rajnath Singh Connectivity as the basis of security

According to Singh, the increased communications infrastructure in border areas was a key factor in Operation Sindoor’s success, allowing for timely logistics assistance and flawless communication, both of which are vital for operations in difficult terrain. He emphasized that connectedness extends beyond physical infrastructure like as roads and optical fiber to communication systems, real-time surveillance, satellite support, and logistical networks, which together form the backbone of national security.

“Every minute, every second of a soldier deployed on the border is extremely important,” Singh said, emphasizing that increased connectivity dramatically enhances army effectiveness and morale.

Border regions should be developed holistically.

Singh also linked improved connectivity to larger aims such as peace, harmony, and socioeconomic progress. The government’s ongoing emphasis on improving communication networks in border regions, especially Ladakh, benefits not just military operations, but also civilian life and economic progress.

He underlined that the Central Government, in collaboration with institutions such as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), remains committed to the overall development and security of border areas. “We just need to keep strengthening this bond so that our relationship is not affected by any external element,” Singh added, reaffirming the bond between the government, the armed forces, and the people.

Increasing economic growth through connectivity

Beyond security, Singh stated that increased communication and infrastructure have spurred economic prosperity, noting India’s 8.2 percent GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025-26. He cited pro-growth policies, infrastructure changes, and enhanced connectivity networks as key accelerators of this development.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s words highlight a balanced strategy in which India’s armed forces exhibit strength and restraint, backed up by strong infrastructure and civilian cooperation. Operation Sindoor demonstrates how strategic discipline and connection upgrades can benefit both national security and regional growth.
