Air Defence Systems in Qatar, Saudi Arabia Down Iranian Missiles and Drones

Doha : On Saturday, air defence systems in Qatar and Saudi Arabia intercepted a number of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, according to defence ministry statements.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence reported that its air defence systems shot down drones and intercepted four ballistic missiles aimed toward the country. According to a statement issued by the Qatar News Agency, the Qatari military forces successfully destroyed all of the drones involved in the strike.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Defence announced that its air defences intercepted six Iranian ballistic missiles in Saudi airspace.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, missiles were launched against Al-Kharj but were destroyed before reaching their intended targets.

The government also stated that three drones had previously been detected and destroyed over the Eastern Province.

The attacks coincide with rising regional tensions related to the ongoing war between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which started on February 28 and has resulted in drone and missile strikes around the Middle East.

What Qatar Received From Iran

The Defence Ministry stated that four ballistic missiles with varied ranges were launched from Iranian territory early Sunday. Qatari Patriot PAC-3 systems and NASAMS THAAD batteries were engaged simultaneously, resulting in a certified 100% interception success rate. There were no reports of injuries, debris fields were watched, and hazmat teams were on alert for chemical and biological payloads. Why did Qatar order temporary evacuations?
