On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the NaMo Bharat rail service and the Meerut Metro in Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister, joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, launched the service at Shatabdi Nagar NaMo Bharat Station. Following the opening, Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath will take the Meerut Metro from Shatabdi Nagar to Meerut South Station.

After the metro trip, the Prime Minister will head to Mohiuddinpur to address a crowd. During the occasion, he will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for a number of development projects worth around Rs 12,930 crore in Western Uttar Pradesh, including infrastructure, urban development, and public services.
About NaMo Bharat and the Meerut Metro
NaMo Bharat, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), is designed to travel at speeds of up to 180 kmph and provide frequent connectivity between Delhi and Meerut. The Meerut Metro, which uses the same tracks, is presently India’s fastest metro system, with an operational speed of over 120 kmph and a route completion time of about 30 minutes.
The corridor connects significant residential, commercial, and industrial hubs in the National Capital Region, such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Modinagar, and Meerut South.

Regional impact and benefits
The project is intended to help millions of commuters in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and adjacent towns such as Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida. According to NCRTC officials, the corridor has already boosted real estate growth, with land prices near stations increasing by 30 to 67 percent in the last two years.

Builders have begun new residential and commercial projects in response to increased demand, particularly in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
Metro timings.
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS lets you to travel from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram, Bejajpul, and Shatabdi Nagar in an hour. In contrast, depending on traffic conditions, the same trip by road takes about an hour and a half.
Weekdays and Saturdays, services are expected to be available from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
