According to sources, the Indian Army fired on a Pakistani drone in Jammu & Kashmir’s Nowshera sector along the Line of Control (LoC) sunday evening. Several other drones were discovered, they claimed.
A video showing tracer bullets illuminating the night sky while an invisible torrent of lead went for the kill resembled what the country witnessed during last year’s Operation Sindoor.
The army is scouring the area to see if the drone&s dropped weaponry or drugs. Yesterday, a drone flying from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) dropped a shipment of weaponry in the Samba region.
The army said that machine guns engaged the drones.
Another drone was spotted in Rajouri district at 6.35 p.m. According to officials, the flying object with blinking lights originated in Dharmsal hamlet in Kalakote and then flew over to Bharakh. A drone-like object with blinking lights was seen flying for a few minutes over Chak Babral hamlet in Samba’s Ramgarh area about 7.15 p.m., they added. At 6.25 p.m., another drone-like object was seen moving from Tain to Topa in the Mankote sector of the Poonch district, which is near the LoC.

India shot down many Pakistani drones during Operation Sindoor. Drone sightings dropped dramatically following that, although at least five Pakistani drone incursions were reported in a single day sunday.
Pakistan employs drones to dump weapons and drugs on Indian territory, as well as to help state-sponsored terrorist groups.
Why Are Pakistani Drone Back on India’s Radar?
Pakistani unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have returned to Jammu and Kashmir after being used to smuggle ammunition and drugs for militants. Though there was little action during Operation Sindoor, recent infiltration efforts signal a shift in strategy, either to explore air routes or to overcome challenges in infiltrating through the ground route.
Why Do These Drones Matter?
These aren’t spy toys. Security services have linked such drones to arms smuggling and narco-Separatist groups that fund and arm terrorists. In prior seizures, every successful deployment resulted in the discovery of assault guns, grenades, and heroin worth crores on the illicit market. Even a small drone may carry five to ten kg of cargo, enough to outfit an entire cell.
