The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) conducted airstrikes on civilian residential areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing at least 17 Afghan civilians and injuring a dozen more.
Islamabad targeted Afghan terrorist groups, blaming them for the recent suicide assaults.
The Afghan authorities reported that “dozens of people” were killed and injured during the incident.”They bombed our civilian compatriots in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces last night, killing and injuring dozens of people, including women and children,” Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on X.
In a post on X, Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar acknowledged the attack, noting three incidents since Ramadan began last week. “Pakistan has carried out intelligence-based selective targeting of seven terrorist camps and hideouts belonging to Pakistani Taliban and its affiliates in the border region,” the foreign minister stated.
Tarar went on to say that Pakistan also targeted an Islamic State offshoot, which had claimed responsibility for the recent attack on an Islamabad mosque that killed 31 people and injured more than 160. This was one of the most deadly strikes in Islamabad since the Marriott hotel bombing in 2008.

Afghan Border : What is causing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan?
In recent years, Pakistan has witnessed an increase in extremist violence.
Islamabad blames the attacks on Afghan elements and accuses the Taliban of allowing militants to hide on Afghan land.
Pakistan wants Kabul to crack down on the TTP, which is a different group yet closely associated with the Afghan Taliban.
The TTP aims to enforce a hardline interpretation of Islam, notably in Pakistan’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, which borders Afghanistan.
According to the Pakistani government, the group operates freely on Afghan territory.
The Afghan Taliban refute the charges and say they cannot be held accountable for security issues in Pakistan.
