In New Delhi, China’s BRICS Sherpa and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu attended the First BRICS Sherpa Meeting.
Ma Zhaoxu Highlights President Xi Jinping’s Vision for High-Quality BRICS Cooperation
In a post on X, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong wrote, “Ma Zhaoxu noted that President Xi Jinping has put forward the important concept of the high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation, as well as the five cooperation layouts of building a BRICS committed to peace, innovation, green development, justice, and closer people-to-people exchanges. These have paved the way for the BRICS mechanism’s future development.
Feihong further emphasized how willing China is to cooperate with India.
In order to follow the right path of BRICS cooperation, deepen practical cooperation, improve the working mechanism, strengthen multilateral coordination, uphold international fairness and justice, and bring greater development to BRICS cooperation, he continued, “China is ready to work with India, the BRICS chair for the year, as well as BRICS members and partner countries.”
He added, “During the meeting, the parties discussed the priorities of BRICS cooperation, planned the year’s major events, and began the preparation for the 18th BRICS Summit.”

Key priorities of India’s Chairship were outlined by MEA Secretary (Economic Relations) and India’s BRICS Sherpa Sudhakar Dalela. These priorities were based on the PM’s vision for the BRICS to be “people-centric” and “humanity-first,” as well as the overarching theme of “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.”
M. Kasko, the Republic of Belarus’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India, represented the country as a BRICS partner in the first BRICS Sherpa/Sous-Sherpa summit in Delhi.
Since representatives of partner nations had not previously attended such meetings, the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission thanked the organizers for inviting Belarus to the event.
In a message delivered by the Belarusian ambassador, the president of Belarus expressed confidence that BRICS, led by India, will see new successes and accomplishments in the upcoming year, which will help the group make even more progress and keep its standing as one of the most powerful international organizations.
