The Prime Minister said in a post on X that he had discussed recent events in the area with the Amir of Qatar. “His Highness Sheikh @TamimBinHamad, the Emir of Qatar, and I had a conversation yesterday regarding the changing Middle East crisis. I communicated Singapore’s support for diplomatic measures to reduce tensions and advance regional stability, while he discussed the most recent developments.”

Additionally, the Prime Minister acknowledged having a separate discussion with the President of the United Arab Emirates in which he expressed gratitude for the support given to Singaporeans residing there. “I discussed the worsening situation in the Middle East with His Highness Sheikh @MohamedBinZayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, earlier. Instead of providing a formal evaluation on Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei’s appointment as Iran’s next Supreme Leader, US President Donald Trump has just said, “We’ll see what happens.”

Prior to this, US President Donald Trump claimed that the “short-term” increase in oil prices was worthwhile if it eliminated Tehran’s nuclear threat, amid rising global oil prices brought on by the intensifying conflict in West Asia.

Trump said that if Iran’s nuclear capabilities are dismantled, oil prices will “drop rapidly” and that “only fools would think differently” in a post on Truth Social.

Trump added, “Short-term oil prices, which will drop rapidly when the destruction of the Iran nuclear threat is over, is a very small price to pay for U.S.A., and World, Safety and Peace.” Only idiots would have a different perspective.
