Iranian drone : According to various social media posts, an Iranian Shahed-136 drone targeted the Saudi Aramco oil refining complex in Ras Tanura, one of Saudi Arabia’s important energy hubs, early Monday. According to Bloomberg, the attack caused a short suspension of the refinery and resulted in a “small and controlled fire.” There are no reports of casualties from the incident.

The Saudi Defence Ministry reported that it successfully repelled more drones attempting to target the Ras Tanura oil plant. The site’s infrastructure is enormous, including processing units, storage tanks, pipelines, and a massive port built for global crude oil shipment.

Ras Tanura is closely guarded and equipped with advanced monitoring systems due to its importance. Strategically, the terminal is critical for supplying crude oil to key markets in Asia, Europe, and the United States, and any operational disruptions might have serious consequences for oil prices and world markets.
