Iran FM arrived in Geneva for the third round of important talks with the US
On Wednesday evening , an aircraft carrying Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi landed in Geneva in preparation for the Thursday negotiations. Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and Witkoff are leading the US delegation.
The talks over Iran’s nuclear program came amid rising tensions, with US President Donald Trump threatening military action if Tehran fails to strike an agreement. Washington has increased its military posture in the Middle East, and Iranian authorities have threatened to destroy Israel and US interests if the US begins an attack.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted that President Trump is still optimistic about a diplomatic outcome.
“They are attempting to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles.” For example, you’ve seen them try to launch satellites into space. They are on a road to one day developing weapons capable of reaching the mainland United States. The speaker stated that they already had weapons capable of reaching much of Europe. The conversations and meetings tomorrow will primarily focus on the nuclear program, and we hope that progress can be made since that is the president’s preference, to make diplomatic progress,” he continued.

Adding to the strong US posture, Vice President J D Vance stated that Washington has seen proof that Iran is attempting to revive its nuclear weapons program following previous strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. “The concept is extremely simple: Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon. In fact, we have proof that they attempted to do just that,” Vance told reporters.
