India-Austria : Austria’s Deputy Minister of Defence Arnold Kammel and India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador P Harish, met to discuss ways to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields, such as commerce and peacekeeping.

On the fringes of the Munich Security Conference, Austrian Foreign Minister M Beate Meinl-Reisinger met with EAM S Jaishankar.
Robert Zisch, the Austrian Ambassador to India, gave President Droupadi Murmu his credentials earlier in January.

The Austrian ambassador said, “I am honoured to have presented my credentials to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Austria and India have a longstanding and friendly relationship based on strong people-to-people ties and economic cooperation.” I’m excited to work closely with Indian partners to advance our bilateral engagement and to expand Austria-India partnership throughout my term.
The Austrian embassy wrote on X: “Welcome Ambassador Zischg!Today, Ambassador Dr. Robert Zischg formally assumed his duties by submitting a Letter of Credence. Under his direction, we hope to further the positive bilateral ties between our two nations.”

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the 8th Foreign Office Consultations between Austria and India took place in December of last year and covered all facets of bilateral relations, including people-to-people links, cultural exchanges, and commercial, political, and economic ties.
“A wide range of subjects were covered in the discussions, such as political participation, trade and economic cooperation, science and technology, cultural exchanges, and interpersonal relationships. According to a MEA statement, cooperation between the two nations was also investigated in international and multilateral fora.
Maintaining regular official contacts and scheduling the next FOC in New Delhi at a time that works for both parties was agreed upon.
Austria launched a major campaign earlier in September to entice Indian students to enrol in its best technical colleges in an attempt to address India’s “great demand” for skilled labour and to advance people-to-people relations and education between the two nations.
